Well firstly you DON'T sign up for another 12m UNLESS you change your subscription package (eg from Standard to Premium), you just continue beyond your MINIMUM 12m contract, and are now on 1m notice if/when you decide to leave.
From your £7 comment you are on o2 Standard (it's £7.34/m) and have an o2 mobile to get the monthly discount to that.
At the moment you MIGHT consider migrating to o2's sister brand Be as they offer the equivalent Be Value with £80 Quidco which works out at £4.83/m over the 12m commitment there, though with fewer perks, but maybe you don't value them.
Armed with that you COULD try phoning o2 (option 3 for Billing from memory) and telling them that you are considering moving to Be because you can get it for £1.51/m less - you MIGHT be able to blag say 3 months free to keep you BUT they might insist you commit to another 12m to get that.
Have a check through my Be/o2 features document (4 pages) that you can find at

Well on the basis "what's the worst that they could say" = "no reduction" = you've just wasted your time on their 0800 number. The best is they offer you some free month(s) though probably unlikely I'd say. It's a shame you didn't check LAST month as they were doing a 3m free then on Premium/Pro so were more amenable to the concept.
Otherwise if refused any concession, hold tight, on your rolling 1m notice, and NEXT time o2 offer 3m free (on some/all their packages) see what you can get on the www.o2.co.uk website when you log into your a/c and click the 'change my broadband package' (cant remember the precise term) one of the menu'd/programmed routines there to see what other sub deals they would offer you (though with a new 12m commitment as they make clear).

They do offer 2 free months for agreeing to a new minimum 12 month extension.0

Hi,
I phoned O2 broadband a couple of days ago as I am coming to the end of my first year with them and asked if they had any special offers if I signed up for another 12 months. I was passed through to retentions who had a look at my account and said the best they could offer me at the moment was a £2.50 per month discount. I was happy with this as I had no intention of leaving anyway.0 -
