It does sound very random which is the most frustrating thing, why would it work fine for 2 days and then go off again. Anyway, yes I have 2 different phones and they are both affected and they do have filters.

Hi everyone and thank you for the replies, sorry I have been out all evening so just to update.

I am not cable, we do not have it in my area. So my BB is with virgin but I have to have a BT line to receive BB. Anyway, the problem resolved itself again, so is obviously intermittent.

Managed to speak to someone very helpful at Virgin, who thinks there maybe a fault with the our wiring, so I am going to have it checked and see from there.

Why waste money having your internal wiring checked when the fault is almost certainly one of your filters, as almost everyone here has advised you?
Have you already tested the router when plugged into the BT test socket behind the master socket, surely Virgin asked you to check this when you initially reported the problem? If the fault goes away when you do that, then yes the problem is in your internal wiring. But if the fault only occurs when the phone is used, then 90% chance a filter is faulty.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I always believe in "leave it long enough and it will fix itself" well it winds my manager up or to "why is it broken" reply "lack of use" winds the secretaries up lol
