London Eye Fast track worth it..?

Hi all,
I am taking my little boy to London in 2 weeks& we were going to the London Eye. I've been warned about long queues, but the difference in price between standard and fast track tickets is obviously quite large, and I'm just wondering how long the queues actually do get on a weekend. I'd appreciate it if anyone who's been there could tell me if it would be worth paying the extra for fast track tickets, or if we would get to the front fast enough anyway?
If it was just me, I wouldn't even think of upgarding, but queueing for an hour with a 5 year old, just doesn't feel like a tempting prospect...
I'd be very grateful for some help with this!
Thanks
Mia

We went past the London Eye during the half-term. There was a 2-hour wait for the Aquarium :eek:, but didn't seem to be much of a wait at all for the Eye.
Not sure if this is normal or not.
Also as each pod holds quite a few people, the queue moved quicker than you thought.

our daughter loved being in the q as it was part of the experience and i felt the q moved along quickly .. this was a few years back so not sure how long now.. mabey get there early enoughThose we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away.And those who loved you dearly,
Are thinking of you today.0 -
When I went the queue must've been a couple of hours long. We marked ourselves against someone waiting in the "normal" queue whilst we went fast track. We queued for maybe 20 minutes in the fast track queue, but the "normal" people still had a way to go once we'd got off...0

I've done it both ways and felt the extra was worth it for the fast-track. We took my elderly mother for a birthday treat so didn't want her to have to queue for long and were amazed at the length of the 'normal' queue. That was in the summer holidays and the weather was quite hot.If swimming is good for your figure, can someone please explain whales?0

As you won't be into the school holidays in 2 weeks I'd say go normal and off-peak as in my experience - if you aim to go before 12 or after 6 - you won't be queueing more than 30 minutes in the normal queue and Fast track isn't significantly faster.
I would suggest pre-booking online though as the ticket office queue is often longer than the actual queue to ride (there are machines in the lobby to collect pre-booked tickets)
Hope that helps0 -
I went over Easter had fast track for the aquarium, but didnt bother for the eye and found that the queue wasnt an unreasonably long wait. About 15 minutes, whereas the Aquarium with fast track took almost 40 minutes!!It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

i went on a cold saturday morning and paying the extra for fast-track was definitely worth it. whatever you do, make sure you/your son goes to the toilet before you get on - we'd just gotten into a pod when my friend decided she desperately needed a wee :rolleyes2 its an awfully long ride in that situation!!!0

Was on the eye last Friday at about 2pm, had pre booked tickets the evening before after checking the weather forecast, wasn't much of a queue when we were there, about 20 mins or so.Psychosomatic addict, insane.0

I've never been on the London Eye, so though i'd check their prices:
Standard £17.00 adult:eek::eek::eek::eek: £8.50 child:eek::eek::eek::eek:
Fast Track £27.00 adult :eek::eek::eek::eek:£27.00 child:eek::eek::eek::eek:
Fast Track with glass of Champagne: £35 adult:eek: :eek::eek::eek:(Additional glass of Champagne: £10:eek::eek::eek::eek:).
Apologies in advance for being a little cheeky, but does anyone else not think that's a bit steep?!Profit=sanity
Turnover=vanity
