Recommedation for getting rid of kitty 'odours'

Hi
Can anyone recommend a kitten friendly plug-in or something. Have three new kittens and it's mainly the smell of food lingering that I'd like to destroy - the downstairs still smells of what I gave them a few hours ago - rabbit in jelly bleugh!!!!!

Not usually a fan of things that make your home smell like pot pourri and spraying everything with Febreze but opening the windows isn't helping here!

you could try giving them a less offensive smelling food? perhaps one of the quality dry foods? Hills, James Wellbeloved...? they barely smell at all and are very good for them nutritionally, and despite what many people may believe, the cost of feeding a quality dry food can in fact work out less than most canned foods.

(might want to check how old kittens should be before they start on dry food)

I'm considering that at the moment for several reasons...I'm just conscious that while they're all indoors (they're just 8 weeks) the house is taking on a bit of a whiff and I don't want to be the smelly cat people!

i guess one of the least offensive odour removers is that Neutrodol (?) stuff. i too hate those plug-in things myself, and the vile headachy flowery smells they omit (i would almost rather smell old cat food).

    good luck :)

Good idea - I'd forgotten about them - I'll pick up a couple of blocks and put them well out of the way.

i think they do a spray too, and maybe even a plug in too - in case you were worried about the kitties getting hold of the blocks.

What about burning a yankee candle wax tart in a tart burner or just a yankee candle jar, they have various fragrances and are one of the best candle makers around.

My sis came to my house and says 'It smells of cat'. 'terrific,' I said, imagining mad cat ladies and pongy houses.
'No' she said 'I mean it smells like cat FOOD'

I felt SOOO much better, obviously...

My cats have a utility room designated for them in my very small flat. It can get quite whiffy, esp if they have both went for a poo! I'm paranoid about people smelling dirty litter tray when they come in, so I have one of those flowery smelling 3evolution plug ins (I love the winter spice but must not sell it again till xmas!) which is in the hall near their room so the first thing you smell when you walk in is it, and not cat wee, and in the cats room I have a bowl of bicarbonate soda and some oil essence sprinkled in, and it is AMAZING for covering cat food smells, not so much stinky poos, but once you scoop them it's a non issue.

Thanks BM - I have their litter tray in the utility room as well and I can leave the window open in there at the mo so not too bad - might consider something for the hallway and I'll give the bicarb a go!

Lucky you, I don't have a window in there, just a vent at the top that leads into the bathroom, so if you are out all day - BLECH!
