I will be having the early sitting for dinner as we have a child under two and she will be eating with us, she will be alseep by the late sitting.
I suspect it may be a sweeping generalisation to say that if you don't want to get dressed up and choose the buffet instead you will be seen as a chav. I think we may be younger than the average passenger on there and i'm starting to get the feeling that we may seen as chavvy for dressing in what is comfortable and suits our age. As i have said earlier, at the end of the day we are on holiday and i do hope it won't be ruined by us panicking we are being judged on what we are wearing by other passengers.
I would say that if a smart pair of jeans worn with shoes and a shirt is acceptable for restaurants in the uk then i can't see why it would be frowned upon on board.
thanks for the tip about the sky bar, i'm sure we will use it on nights when we want little one to have a quiet night but on the whole i think we will make it into the can can lounge most nights for the shows
The same applies if you want early dinner - get your reservation in early!
I doubt you will be regarded as chavs unless you act like them!;) I was quite surprised how many of the loud, fat, 'tattoos-and-football-shirts' brigade were on board. The good news is that they frequent the Lido buffet and then go to the Oklahoma lounge to try and drink the ship dry, so they are easily avoided.
The Can Can lounge is a far better option after dinner. They do the shows twice, once for each sitting. As for the dress code, you really shouldn't worry about it. I wore a suit for the captain's dinner and casual for the other nights. Within reason, it really isn't an issue.
Have a great trip!:)0 -
Take a small extension lead. I found this extremely useful for charging more than one thing at a time and also because there was no space under the plug socket where my camera charger wanted to be positioned.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

I have already reserved the early sitting, i did this when you booked the cruise. i think we will eat then go for a walk to try and get dd to sleep then go into the can can lounge to watch a show most nights.
it's one week tomorrow we set sail, i am getting quite excited about it now!0 -
Hi,
we were on the Destiny in Feb ( myself and OH both 30)
we ate in the dining room most nights
hubby wore linen trousers,or chino type, with a casual shirt / polo shirt
didn't bring jeans and I don't recall seeing anyone in jeans TBH
would have been too hot anyway ( Caribbean!)
Have a lovely time,wish I was going
There won't be much for your under 2 yr old to do
wasn't a problem for us as our 2 are 13 and 7
but thought they were definitely lacking on things for little ones to do
( only saw 1 child under about age 3 ,and it was feb half term !)
The kids clubs for older ones, however were fab
even the pool isn't suitable as was freezing and salt water
Have a lovely time
PS yes there will no doubt be "chavs" ,they are everywhere on every holiday you go to ,no matter how "expensive" the destination !
thanks for this, i'm not too concerned about dd being entertained as she is good at entertaining herself and there will be plenty going on around her to have a look at. we will also be getting off each day so she will have a chance to stretch her legs and see something different. I think there is some kind of shallow water on board that she will be able to paddle in as well as the large pool.0 -
yes there is a splash pool bit, but cold and salty
she may not mind though
Enjoy, let us know how you get on0
