The reason for the ommission of DV in on camcorders is becuase the EU has a special tax that is applicable to Video Recorder's. If a camcorder has the facility to record from an external souce such as DV in , then its TAXED accordingly.

Many camcorders, the majority with DV out, ONLY, have their DV in disabled, by the internal SOFTWARE. Thats all. The camera will do DV In if you now how to change the s/w.

In majority of cases this is easily done, I know , I done it many many times!

You just use the eisting DV socket and video will go in and out!

The S/W disabling of DV in lowers the import Tax liability to manufacturers, The manufacturers adjust their prices so they can make money by selling essentially the same camera, one with dv in one without.
