Has anyone gone to the FOS when trying to reclaim charges back from halifax. I wrote to halifax asking for my charges to be returned as i am inn finacial hardship ( i have nearly £1000 rent arrears and problems with utitilty bills)
They wrote back to me saying they had looked at my case and said i still have to wait untill the end of the court rulling.
I have now replied saying if they do not look at my case again i will go to the FOS. I gave them 7 days to reply
So what is likely to happen now, will they pay up, or let me go to the FOS.
Once i go to FSO am i still likely have to wait until the end of the court case.
Thanks

Did Halifax get you to complete and income and expenditure form?
Did you send in any arrears notices to them?
Do you still use that account?0 -

I think you need to word a letter stating that you have arrears for x, y and z totalling x amount, Your income is £xxxx. and you outgoings are £xxxx.
Have you any room to cut back any outgoings? For example, childminding, car useage, etc,etc?0 -
no we dont, infact we have a shortfall of £100 a month on our incomings to outgoings, this is why i can not understand why they disagreed that i was not in hardship0

In a similar situation to you atm denise, but with the HSBC
I didn't get anywhere with them either, and I think my next step is the FOS
My incomings are £1138
my outgoings are £1203
And with them charging me up to £125 in bank charges every month, as you can see I don't have enough coming in for my outgoings. How they can say I don't qualify for Financial hardship I'l never know.
My crime was a Mcdonalds transanction for beginning of month, Because I took my kids there as a treat for struggling all of last month. Apparently this is a Luxury that a person in hardship shouldn't be allowed.
All the best with your claim hun, and remember if you do have to make purchases, your'd be better off taking money out of cash point, because they look rigorisly into your spendings on your account. And will use this against you:j Things can only get Better :j0 -

My problems came with my benefits not going into the account on time, so then started with charges, which was coming out of my rent, in a year they have rolled over to over £1200. When i phoned halifax to explain what was happening they was very rude and told me to learn to deal with my money better:mad: I was coping just, before they started with stupid charges0 -
I've gone to the FOS for reclaiming charges from HBOS. I tried to claim £16k and then the case went on hold. But I asked them to reconsider my claim in February as I am in hardship and they offered me £28....final offer!
My case has now been with the FOS for nearly 3 months...still waiting. On a positive note the FOS were really helpful and the procedure was straightforward!0 -

Are there any priority debt arrears?
Are there any payment plans on any of the arrears?0
