Hi Cookiesandcream
There is a great soapnut thread here. I don't know a lot about them msyelf! Do let us know how you get on
I'll merge your thread with that one later.
Also, cleaning a washing machine should offer plenty of ideas on how to do that :j
Thanks

Borax has been reclassified by the EU so is no longer available to the public. You can get Borax Substitute which has all th cleaning & laundry properties, but it's no longer good for killing weeds and bugs.
Here it is: http://www.dri-pak.co.uk/borax-substitute.html0 -
Rather than post a new thread, thought I'd revive this one..
We use re-useable nappies. Does anyone wash these with the soapnuts? Just sent off for a sample (only 75p, saves me the hassle of going out to get an envelope + stamps)..
Do you soak the nappies before hand, if so? Or do you use them for wet only, not soiled? Our daughter has sensitive skin.
Thanks!0 -
hi I have read on here about soapnuts but cant find the thread on how to make them, I saw it on 17 kids and counting too and I really want to give it a go , if anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great, thanksFrugal living challenge 2011

Hi londonirish,
I've added your post to the main soapnuts thread so you'll be able to find it more easily next time.

Marksy i tried them and they made our nappies a horrible colour. You can wash nappies without detergent, which i think may be another thread entirely!Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

Hi Sarahsaver,
what exactly happened to your nappies? I'm due in april & have been looking for a good way to clean nappies, I thought I'd found it but am a bit worried now! Just sent off for a free sample anyway but don't want to try it on new nappies if it makes them go manky

I have used soapnuts regularly for years and only ever do cool washes. I would definitely not use them on nappies as they won`t stay whole in a hot wash0
