You need to get a card, think it's called something like a Next Directory card, in advance. Then you can buy things instore and are charged with your next bill. The sales assistants often ask if i'm interested in getting one when I'm at the till, think they are prob on commission for getting you to sign up.

I've had the home preview this time, never ever had it before. In previous years I've had vip sale, so I'm waiting to see what happens this time. If I don't get vip my husband won't be very happy with me, rushing off to the shops a couple of hours before we go on holiday!:D

Yes I usually get both, never mind I've had a good run and hope that this is a one off.

To clear things up!

Next diectory card
Cor I wish I got commission for getting next directory cards! but afraid not, unlike other stores the next directory card is not a store card. If you did not know Next store and Next directory are two seperate companies. Next stores just acts a middle man, we can do refunds on directory items (online orders) and we can deal with directory enquiries by ringing up for the customer but in general we are connected to next directory.

So.. the next directory offer their customers a store card because we are not allowed to type in a customer number on our till to credit the customers items onto their account. Obviously for security reasons a person can get hold of someones account number and quote it around stores. So.. all the store card acts like is an account number for us and the customer has to sign. (A lot of customers have now asked for the card to be chip and pin for better security)

So, it is well worth the card it is just like buying online goes onto your normal account. The only time I can request for a store card is if a customer comes to pick up an order from store, otherwise I have to ring up. SO if you are interested in one, tell the assistant when you pick up your order you wish for one BEFORE they find your order because it gives us an option. Or obviously you can ring up yourself.

Previews of sale
From what Ive heard from my managers... only customers who belong to the next directory that spend A LOT of money get previews to sale. However this may not be true?

Furnitue in sale
In my store we do have a home section. I do not know about big furniture items such as beds, cuboards etc because we only store a few dinning tables but I imagine they would not be avaliable in STORE at discounted prices for reasons such as health and safety trying to remove big furniture with a lot of people in the way. Though things such as: Curtains, cutlery, china sets, lighting, pots and pans, all go into the sale at half price and they FLY out. I mean within the hour all our plate sets have gone. So... again just like childrens clothing, get there early for things such as that because it is popular for new home owners and people with small children which is the majority!

Anyone know when the new directory is out, I'm going on holiday soon and the courier always leaves it on the step advertising that the house is empty :mad:
