Exactly WHO can ask to see insurance/mot documents?

Thanks, all. The college does have its own legal dept, so I've asked if they can check this out further.

I'm just hoping to get out of doing all of the checks if this does go ahead as we already have too much to do! I'm not asking on behalf of the college, I'm was hoping to get some ammo to stop the college getting us to do the checks!

Most "regular" policies are - Social Domestic & Peasure wit To & From place of work - As you are using your own car to go to the "place of work" then they p[robably need to know that you are insured properly to do so, as most insurance policies are void if you do not have current MoT then they are checking those too.
The bottom line - if you don't want to show you are probably hiding the fact that you are not legal therefore what they are saying is you want to do the course you have to be legal, if not then you don't do the course. They will not be liable if you go ahead and use your car without MoT/Ins as they would inform you of this if you do not "produce"
