Unfortunately, in our district of west london, being older is no guarantee to a discount in adult education fees - you also have to be on benefits. I was very disappointed by this.0

As a 53 year old I would certainly recommend checking out the Saga website. Have just opened my first savings account with them at a very good rate of interest. Cant post a link as I'm a newbie!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

I too have just reached the magical age 50 this week and must admit that I don't feel any different (YET). I agree with most of the things said by Marlinsapalu but feel insulted by the assumption that the 'young people on the bus are on job seekers allowance'. My son is fortunate in that he drives a new BMW and is not on job seekers allowance but certainly does not make comments like this one about the other young people he sees travelling on buses.
One of the young people on the bus will be my eldest GD travelling to and from her job as a youth worker with the local authority. Another one will be her younger sister who is a Petty Officer in the Sea Cadets, on the staff of the local unit.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.
Before I found wisdom, I became old.0 -
Theatr Clwyd in Mold has a special over 50s film screening on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons. We can see the film and have tea and flipping biscuits for £3.50. Grrr!
They need to get real and make if £4 and including a glass of wine or pint! They obviously think we are past it.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

Come on folks lighten up a little....Im sure the post was "tongue in cheek". Well thats the way this 62 year old saw it.
I have to admit to not feeling older even though I wear cords and bemoan the passing of a good shop to buy a cardigan.;)
My hobby...I still work(but spend a lot of time thinking if I can afford to retire)
Not having a pay packet comming in every months frightens me,even though I have savings and an occupational pension.:beer:0
