Tax Credit SUSPENDED - urgent advice required please help!

My payment for my CTC wasnt paid into my bank on Tuesday and I immediately telephoned up and I was told that my payments had been suspened due to a "software glitch".

I have telephoned them day and night and I am still getting the same answer - its a computer glitch and will be sorted out, no notes on the file or anything!

On a more positive note the lady did confirm that any missed payments would be paid and I would not miss out on any money - however, its not that reassuring when you have no idea when that money will be received!

I telephoned again this morning and still nothing, got quite an abrupt woman on the phone who said a paper email had gone around saying that some accounts were suspended and not to lift the suspended until the tax office sort it out.

I then got fed up of talking to her and asked to speak to a Manager, she put me through to her line manager and he just rattled on about computer glitches and that I am not the only one even though I feel like I am blah blah blah.

He also said I would get any missing payments paid to me when it was sorted out - still not convinced though!

Is anyone else in this situation or has anyone been in this situation before and how long does it take to get sorted out?

Any reassurance from anyone greatly appreciated as I am at a standstill at the moment and daren't spend any money just in case I never receive my CTC!

Same thing happened with me before, I waited another month before the money went into my account. I hope you don't have to wait that long.

    All the best

Happened in April this year, On the day ( friday) my Tc was mean't to go into the bank I checked and nothing had been paid in. Because it was a Bank holiday I assumed maybe that was the reason for the delay. I waited until after the bank holiday weekend, checked on the Tuesday and still nothing in my account.
I phoned them, and was told the same as you, that there was a glitch with the computers and that I should be patient and wait, all monies would be backdated. I waited patiently kept checking bank balance and nothing, then I was due the next months payment by this stage. And still nothing. So I contacted them and they said it was being dealt with, then last week I finally recieved my 2 backdated payments from them.

It is freaking annoying because I incurred bank charges because of lack of funds in my bank account to pay for DD, and had to beg, steal and borrow to survive, Its so wrong of them to do this when we rely on that money :(

Just keep calling them and pestering them

Thanks for your email - I guess in a strange way its nice to know I am not the only one BUT at the same time I have already paid my childminder on the day that the funds were meant to be in my account so am now already out of pocket!

Why do they use this computer glitch as an excuse?

What annoys me is even when I spoke to the Line Manager he knew nothing and couldnt tell me anything nor could he point me in the direction of help! Then they give you that bare faced cheek of a line about how they can understand the position you are in, yeah right that's because yours are no doubt sorted and paid first!!!!

The only thing they have said is that I will get my money, but WHEN!

I know how incredibly frustrating it is, and how patronising they are on the other end of the line. I think they use Computer problems as an excuse, for there own negligence.

Also I notice its always around the time when the new years renewals awards are going through, maybe they should just employ more staff.

Also do you notice how quick they are to respond when there has been an overpayment and there immediately contacting you to get it back, yet when we're owed the money they have no sense of urgenty.

Yes it is VERY frustrating, it wouldnt be so bad if they could say Miss >>>>> your payment will be in your account on such and such a date and leave it at that then I could at least work around that !

Yeah definitely! At the end of the last tax year, they hadnt received my paper declaration so cancelled all my money and sent me a tax bill for the whole year!

I have been on them to the phone again tonight and asked it has been sorted, in short NOPE!

I asked him if I could request a giro payment and he said one was requested on Tuesday but could take up to 2 weeks to be dealt with! i said I could be without money for nearly a month then and he said yes. I asked him how was I meant to survive and he said I CANNOT COMMENT ON THAT!

What the hell am I mean to do, I am not eating not sleeping and now I do not know if or when I will get my money WHAT IS GOING ON!

Might be worth visiting your local benefits office hun, if you are in dire then maybe they can offer you an emergency grant to keep you going. Of course it Usually has to be paid back, but they are understanding and will just take back a percentage every month until its paid back.

Its worth a shot, I have had one before

Hope they sort it out for you Xx
