Am I just unlucky? Or not trying hard enough?

I haven't been comping for long, maybe a bit longer than a month and I have yet to win a thing.
Then I look on here and there are so many people just listing everything they have won so far this and I have to wonder am I just unlucky? Or am I impatient does it take longer to see the fruits of my many hours putting in my information for competition after competition?

Cheers

It took me about 3 months for my first win, stick at it, it'll happen.
  • I think you're impatient!

If you look at the comps you've entered what percentage do you think have alrealy closed? Of the ones that have, I'd guess that 3/4 of them won't choose a winner straight away. Just because a comp's closed doesn't mean the winner has been chosen. Then there's the delay in actually sending it out. Some prizes take a month or longer to arrive and you're not always notified in advance that you've won.

My advice is to keep entering and stop worrying about whether or not you've won. Your first prize will arrive and when it doesn it'll be the best feeling in the world.

it took me months to win my first prize, i am not the luckiest person, but i do get regular wins now and yes there are people on here that seem to win a lot more than others but you will win and it wont matter what everyone else is winning.... well untill the next week when you havent won anything again!

it took me about 8 months , and still to this day can not win on instant comps , just keep comping , and dont worry about it , remember its a hobby and enjoy it ,, if you dont win ,, you have not lost anything , but if you do win thats a bonus ,, just remember it should be fun not a chore , if you do feel its a chore , i would stop doing it ,, i find it fun , and even better when something comes through the post , im not bothreed if i dont win anything but find it a joy when i do though.

Also have you read the comping guide , and use a programme like roboform??? to fill out forms as it is so helpful and also saves u alot of time

You need to give it more time - the more comps your names in the hat for the better the chances of a win, but if you look how many people have thanked double it for other sites add a third for lurkers your odds are there.

It may take months stick at it and have fun doing it:j

The more you enter the better the odds of winning. I was winning something nearly once a week but now I am lucky to win once a month. This is purely down to entering much fewer comps and mainly the ones for large prizes. I win less but I spend less time entering so have more time doing other stuff.

Keep going and the wins will come, often when you have given up hope.
    Winnings 2007 = £463 winnings 2008 = £3000
2009 prizes = Tinkerbell DVD, Lipstick, apertif dish, London day out, secret service xbox game.

I started comping about 18months ago, but didn't win for about 6months, wins aren't something to be expected in the same way you don't buy a lotto ticket and get frustrated if you don't win it's just the thrill of the chase! I wake up hopeful each day!!

It took me months and months to win a prize, so don't feel disheartened. Even after I won a prize, I won nothing for the rest of the year but kept at it and I've had a couple of wins this year. My tip is that if you ever start feeling like you're going to give up because you're not winning anything, to take a look on this forum (IWIWIW) and it will give you the drive to keep going, because your prize is just around the corner! :)
