I also think you would be ok to explain things to your 10 year old hun, kids are quite resiliant to these things. My ds was just under 7 when my gran died and he got a really good grasp of what was going on when it was explained to him. I actually think its more scary for kids when they know "something" is wrong but everyone is talking in hushed voices around them and keeping secrets, better to be open and honest I think.

  • She's been ill for many months now & tbh I personally think she won't get any better.

She lives about 6 miles away so it's a fair distance really, no real park nearby, or cinema etc & with us not driving it's 2 buses each way so it's a full day he'll be away.

She has her hospital appointment next week so perhaps after that we'll have some answers xx

pms, i can understand where your dh is coming from as the kids seeing their grandma will be affecting them a lot but then they do have a right to see her, we made the decision to let my then 2 year old see my dad when he was ill and dying with cancer, dont underestimate how it affects 2 year olds as it does, personally i think my son would have been affected more if we had stopped the contact but you both need to discuss this, can you discuss this with your older dd too? see how she feels about the situation, maybe with the 2 of you onside then dh will relent?

Sure he will appreciate your support hun and no its not going to be easy but stuff like this quite often makes people and relationships stronger. Hang in there xxx.

  • PP thanks for your input hun, I guess until we sit together (DH thinks it should be ME not both of us!) & talk to DD we'll see how she feels about everything as well then go from there. She cried for 2 hours last time we went (not in front of her Great Grandma but once we got home) because of how upset she was xx
