It's for the charity motorbike ride I'm doing in July - here if you want to see - http://biketopdown.wordpress.com. I've got an interview on local BBC radio about it on Wednesday morning ha ha ha!:eek: :D

  • See my earlier post about what MIL has mentioned to do with girls not going up. Now I love the kids more than anything, you all know that, BUT DH is saying he wants to go see his Grandma still but doesn't think the kids should so guess who's going to end up looking after them when he does that? They hardly see him much as it is, what do I explain to the kids (especially DD who is almost 10 now)????
2025 - finally back comping after a stressful house move - send me fairy dust please

The swine flu thing (mother and baby) is so tragic.

There is so much sadness in the world.

can't really provide much advice as I don't have/know any kids that age but maybe you could explain it to her and not the others (how old are the others ) and then give her the option of going to visit her great grandma or not. Explain that she doesn't have to but if she wants to go then she can. Although it may be upsetting for her I would think she is old enough to understand that people do get ill and don't live for ever. If the other kids are younger you don't really need to say anything to them although you could just say that she's feeling poorly.

  • Thanks BM, my other daughter is only 2 so tbh I'm not worrying about what she thinks at the moment as she doesn't understand.

wow fame at last then hey splodz !!! well done and good luck with the bike ride too. Will sponser you as and when I can, last time I tried to sponser someone though it was through that just-giving site and it wouldnt take my pre-pay card. Thats the only means I have for paying for stuff online. Most places take it like a standard credit / debit card but every now and then you come across one that doesnt !!

princess, not sure what advice to give tbh. Do you think its likely to be a long term thing or just something your dh needs to do a few times? Also is it really far away then? (sorry if you already said that?). Was just thinking if it was you could always travel there together as a family but when it came to the actual part of going in to see DH's grandma you could perhaps take the girls to a park or the cinema or something while he has that time with his grandma and then do something nice together afterwards which will be nice for the girls to spend time with him and nice for DH who will need his mood lifting?

This is thing they are not reporting she had a stroke and believe had others and baby was born very early, really sad but they are playing on the swine flu thing but her body may not have been able to cope with any flu
