Tube strike - refund on season ticket?

Hi all,

My journey to work has been affected by the tube strike - I can't get the tube from Southgate to Russell Square as I usually do. Is there any way I can claim money back from TfL for the inconvenience, and the extra 45 mins travel time it takes using the bus?

Thanks,

eK

    As per the TFL Website:

Please note that special rules apply for industrial action and refunds are not payable under the Customer Charter in these circumstances. Details will be announced once the industrial action has taken place. You are asked not to use the Charter Refund process on this page for the duration of the industrial action.

I'm pretty sure their answer would be no as posted above.

The reasoning would be because your season ticket is not limited only to the underground and therefore you will be able to still use London public transport as you still have access to the bus and the tubes which were running.

You should get on your bike from Southgate.

Hmmm... the logic in these circumstances is confusing. For example, I have a travelcard and had to use a bus. Now, if i wanted to use (mostly unreliable) buses I would get a bus pass instead rather than pay two or three times more for a travelcard I could use on the tube (and mainline).

The bus did get me to work and home pain-free.

But, given that people who used pre-pay oystercards and travelled for free on mainline services, I would expect (and do expect) that TfL will extend the validity of my Travelcard by 2 days. In other words, they pocket the cost.

TfL hasnt had to pay the wages of a lot of staff for 2 days. Its the least it can do.

Thge link that smiley82 has posted implies that they will be doing something - just that they haven't worked out the details yet

I agree and theres other circumstances where they should pay out and they don't.

I live in South London. The only tube near to me is the Northern Line. I've been on the tube and had to get off as they have had signalling problems and then had to go out of the tube station and get on a bus, therefore paying for both modes of transport to get to work and actually costing me more (I'm a PAYG user) than it would with just the tube payment, but no refunds I'm told.

The tubes a rip off anyway. Get on your bike. It takes me 45 minutes to get to work on the tube and I pay £5.60 (i think) each day. It takes me 45 minutes to get to work on my bike and costs me nothing and gets me fit.
