Hi,
Were going away for two nights in Liverpool at the end of this month. Were want to go to defintiely the Maritime Museum and also the Beatles one.
Can anyone suggest other things to do, places to eat (we like Italian generally). Also can you get a pass for discounted entry into the museums and attractions and suchlike.
Thanks

There's tons to do in Liverpool and the wider merseyside area. Take a look here for some ideas http://www.womenrepublic.co.uk/travel/merseyside/ . The Tate Liverpool is really good if you like art but you can't go wrong with the old favourites of the Docks and the Beatles.
Probably the best Italian restaurant in Liverpool is Il Forno. It's not cheap, but has been voted one of the best in England. Haven't eaten there myself but my sis has and she loved it!Mmmm, doughnuts0 -
The national museums have free entry. Two of my favourites are the Walker Art Gallery and the Lady Lever Art Gallery in Port Sunlight. See http://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/0

Buy an all zones safeway £4 adults £2.40 child.....you can use this on the Mersey ferrys and all the trains and bus services as far as Chester and Southport...it is valid for all day use.0

Try this website which is really informative. All the museums are free. If you buy a visitor card £24.99 for 3 days this includes free entry to the Beatles Story, Liverpool FC tour, Open top bus city tour,Mersey Ferry trip and more.

Just incase you didn't know, the beatles museum is opening a new exhibition next week, in a different location to their base at the Albert Dock, so you might want to do both if you are Beatles fans. The new exhibition isn't far away at the Pier Head Ferry terminal, a special John Lennon exhibition. However i think you do need to pay to get into both, not sure though. The Beatles museum (called The Beatles Story) is quite expensive, however as mentioned above Liverpool's main museums are all free.
I think the Tate is also free to get into (except special exhibitions), and is also at the Albert Dock, near to Maritime and Beatles museums.
I like a cheap and cheerful Italian restaurant called Casa Italia on Stanley Street, however it's more of a quick casual place than a special evening out (maybe worth going for lunch). Il Forno is more special as mentioned above, and also Villa Romana on Wood Street which sometimes has queues to get in it's so popular.0 -
Just don't get the platters at Casa Italia...they're disgusting, the mains are good, but this place is not as good as it used to be!
Il Forno is a lovely restaurant, we went there for my husband's 30th, good service, gorgeous food...highly recommend. Felini's in the Radisson Hotel is probably one of the best meals we've had in Liverpool. You have plenty of choice though.0 -
Can you book the Liverpool Stadium tour in advance? It would be a perfect present and surprise for OH!
The rest of the stuff sounds great, Beatles and Maritime museum we'll definitely be doing!0 -
Here you go.....stadium tour and museum

Does anyone have any info on the Western Approaches Museum (used to be Underground Headquarters). We've tried looking online but no prices just a general description.
Thanks for all the lovely suggestions so far x0
