I have a Morphy Richards one that I've had for a few years now & wouldn't be without. It's similar to a Polti. It's great for many household tasks including floors & carpets, bathroom tiles etc. Often Morphy Richards have special offers on their website so may be worth checking it out. I think they offer free delivery too. http://www.morphyrichards.co.uk/

I know Vax also do a similar steam cleaner & is a trusted name. Their vacuums are good so would imagine their steam cleaners are too.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Are these worth buying? Recommendations/comments gratefully received.

I've borrowed one from my dad - it's too hot to think about using it at the moment though! If I do, I will let you know how I get on.

I have a Polti. It cost me an arm and a leg many years ago and I think I've used it about 3 times.

To be honest I seem to recall the amount of steam it produced had me as limp as a lettuce and I couldn't really see any fantastic results (I was trying to clean the grouting in the shower).

Depends what you want to use it for I guess. I do know it's good for stripping wallpaper if that's any help.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

I also have a Polti and find it brilliant on the carpets, I have cats too and in the flea season I steam all my carpets once a fortnight and it brings the pile up and looks like new, as well as killing anything unwanted in the carpet that is.:)
It's the one thing I say I would replace if ever it broke down!

l have had one for years and must admit the novelty does wear off, but it is very good for carpets, certain types of upholstery and many small cleaning jobs and defrosting small freezers. You need to be careful with paintwork as it sometimes takes it off. it is very good for removing wallpaper especially the type with the attachment for removing wallpaper. l would recomend it
  • I got one from Ideal World called the Little Yello Steam Machine (I think) it was about £50 but is brilliant

I love mine, think it's a Morphy Richards, it does a great job of cleaning the conservatory, from the roof to the floor.
It doesn't clean grout though, only bleach will do that. :)
