Seems I'm in the minority then, have just bid £65.21 in the hope that I have more success!

Newbies tend to bid in set increments of say 10p, 50p, £1.00 etc, whereas those more experienced with e-Bay bidding tend to bid in odd amounts like 12p, 56p, £1.03 etc which is why you see the odd amounts on bids.

Another point to bear in mind is if an experienced person has bid a max bid of say £4.63, against a current bid of £4.40 and the bidding increment set by e-Bay is say 10p, their bid will show as £4.50, but they will have it 'covered' up to their max of £4.63. If a newbie then comes in and bids say £5.00, the bid on the item will jump to £4.73 for the newbie (the previous experienced max bid of £4.63 plus the 10p increment). Hence a newbie could win the item for an apparent odd amount.
