Dogs & Canal Boats

We'd like to have a short break on a canal boat as a taster to see if we like it but the companies all seem to charge at least £25 per pet and we have 3 dogs. It seems ridiculous to pay £75 for the dogs for 3 or 4 nights so does anyone out there know a boat hire company that either doesn't charge for dogs or charges something a bit more reasonable.
Location preferably in North England or Wales
Thanks
BTW - don't suggest we go without the dogs that's not an option

Sowerby Bridge Cruises near Halifax (near Leeds) let you take two dogs for free and each other one is £30 so thats only £30. Its a very good company.

Not being funny but unless they are small dogs you're going to be struggling on anything but a long narrowboat... we had one with us on a medium size with 2 of us and it was hard work! I would really not advise taking 3 unless they are small or extreemly well trained...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

My DFW Diary - blah- mildly funny stuff about my journey0 -

They are well trained and will be getting lots of exercise running along the towpath
We always take them away to hotels with us on hols and they haven't let us down - yet!
We are looking at a good size boat, partly because my husband doesn't half snore and i want to be able to get as far away from that as possible :rotfl:0 -
Have you tried Pennine Cruisers of Skipton lovely part of the world ,you can get a long weekend and they do allow dogs but not sure of the cost ,I live on a boat and often take my 3 dogs away with me and have no problems as you say they wear themselves out running along the canal towpath as mine do ,and when not doing that mine love to doze the hours away on the deck, enjoy your holiday it is great fun.0

We were in Skipton on Monday and picked up a leaflet from Pennine but they want £25 per dog
They did say though that they prefer all their boats to be rented out as opposed to sitting there so maybe there's a deal to be done, especially as we plan on going outside of school holidays.
I really don't understand why there's a charge per dog, OK so they have to give it a good hoovering to get rid of dog hairs but they don't have to hoover it 3 times  In fact, we'd happily take our own hoover and clean it ourselves!
I think the biggest problem we'd have with our dogs would be keeping them out of the water, they all love swimming, especially when there's ducks around :rolleyes20 -
