My sky is presently in my husbands name but we have now separated and he wants to cancel the sky.
If I decide to have sky can I say I am a new customer?
Thanks for looking

If he's out of minimum contract and can cancel I can't see why not. How about giving them a call to ask? They won't discuss your ex's account, but will no doubt be happy to hear that you would like to become a new subscriber.mumofjusttwo wrote: »My sky is presently in my husbands name but we have now separated and he wants to cancel the sky.

thank you so much.
Always seems better when you can get a deal on something and not pay full  price.January Grocery 11/3740 -
similar position to me (except we haven't split, I just want it in my name as my employers got a special offer with Sky for new customers)0

Well as I said might be best to give them a call and check - if Sky have provided a new customer incentive (i.e. free equipment or discounts) at the same address, in the same name with the same tel number you may have difficulties - but explain the reasons behind this and they may be more willing to treat you as a new customer.mumofjusttwo wrote: »thank you so much.

I know when my father moved out of his house and my sister bought it Sky allowed her to be treated as a new customer (which in effect she was - she'd never had Sky in her name before). Same address, surname, same tel number - but different bank account details and first name of course.0 -
The only thing bothering me is that I'll be using the same account.... though we are moving in a few weeks.. I'm just worried they'll check the account details?0

Well it's a risk and only you are able to decide if the benefit outweights the risk.0 -
H'mm not sure really - mumofjusttwo is in different circumstances having separated from the account holder who now intends to close the account. It would not make good sense for Sky to refuse to accept her as a customer once the existing account has been closed.Insomniac666 wrote: »similar position to me (except we haven't split, I just want it in my name as my employers got a special offer with Sky for new customers)
I seem to recall the T's & C's mentioning something about interactive service discounts being one per household - though whether this applies to previously closed accounts or not I don't know - like I'd advised the OP - best to check.0 -
If you're moving - assuming you're not tied into a 12 month contract then just cancel before you move and take up the new customer offer at the new address - this will be fine.Insomniac666 wrote: »The only thing bothering me is that I'll be using the same account.... though we are moving in a few weeks.. If you're still in contract you'll need to retain the existing account when you move (and if you need your dish/box moving Sky can charge for this).0
