Dashboard is the control panel of https://www.opendns.com

Stats are, well, statistics of your use of the service. :)

Dashboard is the control panel of Opendns (killed link as dont have permission) lol

Ah, I remember looking at this a little while ago but had problems with my Xbox and PS3 cos of the name resolution and functionality of these DNS servers.

I can see why this would be of use but to allow another website access to your traffic stats can only mean a. more traffic b. Slower network

Why give these stats to a 3rd party? They only use them for self gain.

openDNS is free! Ask your processor?

what's wrong with the DNS supplied by your ISP... Big up the big seven... (well it used to be seven)

a LOT of ISPs DNS are crap that's why lol. A lot of the time OpenDNS is actually quicker than using your ISPs service for the best results use one of each at least you have some resilience then as well

Admitidly DNS is not my speciality but please tell me what opendns has that your ISP doesn't offer? DNS in its name is Domain Name Resolution. If you can map your Domain Name to an IP address then what can be wrong? the fact that it's a non authorative answer? You lose 0.00002 secs for a forwarder? Why not add tags, headers and all the marketing bull. It's all frames and packets after all.

I can only see open DNS as a traffic gatherering excercise and a means to target marketing.

There has always, and will always be DNS servers that act as feeders.

    Just my 2 cents....

I use it for it's blocking features, phishing, P2P and other viral sites that get a good chance of doing harm. The sooner I can block something at the source, the happier I am :) If something goes wrong I have to deal with it

End of the day I like to think I keep a safe little network running (and I'm only 17 :D)
