My OH has his CC through our bank and as we have a joint current account I'm not sure if they'd issue a CC to me as well?
Having just re-read the letter from Barclaycard it is indeed Equifax they use and not Experian! I must have been half sleeping when I read it the first time! I haven't got my Equifax credit report (just the one from experian). Would the £2 statutory report give me the information I need?

Did you put your previous addresses into Experian when you signed up? Its possible that your defaults are not registered to your current address but your previous one. Also, have you checked your Equifax and Call Credit files?0

Barclays customer service is bloody awful, you've dodged a bullet there.
