    Looks great.

The Old Style money saving and food forums on this site are great, lots of tips.

Yes Richard, it is a lot of money to spend on a holiday, but that is our choice. I didn't ask for comments on where we are going, that is decided, my husband wants us to celebrate my 50th birthday in style.

I'm just asking all the friendly, helpful people on here for ideas, so we use a bit less of our hard-earned savings. OK?

I don't think the comments that were made are meant to be horrible. It's just that some of us, including me, are VERY envious ;) !! Hope you have a fab time!!!

This isn't a tip to help you save for you holiday but if you join the Sandals ignature club (on their website) you will get a room upgrade if their is one available when you check in. I was lucky enough to win a holiday to the Beaches resort in Turks & Caicos a few years ago and it was fab, you're sure to have a wonderful time!

The anticipation is part of the excitement! Will be here before you know it!

Does you child (not sure if DS or DD) have a saver account? Childrens accounts usually pay a higher interest rate for saving. I think Halifax do a good childrens account. May be worth maxing one out before putting savings into your own account.

    BTW, i'm still jealous :D

Ooooh thanks for that tip. I'm glad to hear you think Beaches is fab. We want to go because we went to Sandals a couple of times before our son came along, and had such wonderful times, we still talk about it 13 years on !!

The holiday sounds amazing! I would suggest (if you don't already) taking whatever you plan to save out of your current account as soon as wages go in. Be ambitious - worst case scenario you can take money back out.
Maybe look at a regular saver account - often interest on these beats an ISA.
I agree with the suggestions to check out the old style boards and batch cook, make pack lunches and anything you can to reduce your food bill.

I'd suggest doing as much as possible now. If you take out a couple of months e.g. Christmas time/birthdays- you realistically need to put aside £500 per month - or look at it as £115 per week. Put together a plan and always see if you are on track. If you have a good month then don't be tempted to do less the following month because you never know what unexpected might happen. And that way you might even manage to be saved up early and can use any extra for more spending money!
