FTD wrote:I did think of getting a Limo, but my primary goals are, as neither of us will particuarly want to drive after getting off the plane, possibly because of tiredness/drinking/lateness, and we are going to a private house in westridge about 45 miles away (i'm told) - we want to get a hire car that we can 'drop off' back at Sanford on our return home. I thought it would be easier to treat the other half to a 2 min taxi ride to a nearby hotel with spa facilities for a meal and overnight stay, then the next morning get the hire car!
Have you ever tried searching the various sites quoted above for hotels nr sanford airport?

hmm
thing is, you're not going to be able to drink much either way, beause you'll need a clear head for driving the next day - it takes time to get used to driving an automatic car on the wrong side of the road!
plus it can be a bit of a malarky sorting it all out - personally, i'd rather get it all done and be on my way, and know then that it is all done, and the holiday can begin. thats just me though - we love driving in the states.
i've tried googling, and i can only find motels in the sanford area, 3 star at max. you ARE going to have to go a way out (to lake mary at the very least) to find the sort of facilities you are after (and then go all the way back in the morning to collect the car)
im with finishrich - take your duty free champers (make sure you put it in the 'trunk' though, it is illegal to have alcohol in the car itself whilst you are in it - even if it is still closed) and head for the villaknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
There is no charge to do a one-way rental in Florida (generally), try https://www.usrentacar for a good deal, even talk to them, and I have heard of people who get transfers from Sanford wih a company called quicksilver.0
