i brought a dress off of ebay for a wedding and have to say i was really impressed with it. I got it from here: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Cherlone-Dress they do have some unusual and nice pieces on here.

We got a lovely light blue (described as periwinkle) prom dress from TKMaxx in Cardiff last week, size 8, £29.99. Definitely check out TKMaxx, they had a nice selection.

Ebay can also be good but I understand your reluctance.

One of mine had her prom last year and boy did it cost us! Dress, shoes, jewellery etc. She wanted her nails done too but I told her one of her sisters or har mates could do it!! Then there's the limo etc. etc. They've got us over a barrel though haven't they as all the kids want to go to the prom and us mums all want to see them looking all grown-up and smart!!
