He mostly is a star:D but if I mention that it might take 18 months for Nathan to sleep through he may file for divorce:eek::rotfl:

I find you get caught between wanting them to get by this period of sleep deprivation and wishing time would slow down because you want to experience every moment to the fullest:rolleyes::o

I promise, Elliot was an anomoly sent to test us :rotfl: you're so right though, we are torn on this, OH loves each new phase as I suppose Elliot is more of a little person to interact with but me, I miss the last bit so much more than OH <sigh>

Once they start weaning that can make a big difference too though, and having longer naps - well Elliot used to have 30-40 minutes at a time which felt too quick but then when he went 1.5-2 hours it was like... ah! this is actually a break then! But again maybe that was bad luck

Half of this stuff I would either ignore, or tackle immediately but things spiral... I have lists everywhere, and sub-lists! It is all about control, and I think if I can get that back in 1/2 areas, the rest will follow... the alternative just isn't worth thinking about xxxx

DD - pick a single thing you CAN control - the OU essay perhaps - and set aside the time you need with OH's support and get back on track with that. Then and only then pick something else - one of the boxes of stuff maybe and get that dealt with... Don't even think about the next task until the current one is completed.

<sigh> tis so easy to advise others but why don't I follow my own advice:confused::rotfl:

  • Yes, the OU has to come first as I am paying for this course and if I miss another essay, then I fail automatically. I am taking my books on holiday and hoping OH will take DS off for a loooong walk once or twice, maybe all that sea air will increase information absorbtion? And it is a shame because I was enjoying it, it's just the juggling, and ending up so tired in the evenings (should improve now... :( in a way if you know what I mean) I just couldn't get it together to pick up my books. I do not mean to boast but the last essay I did complete, well I was behind on that so crammed it into a weekend and still did very well - got to be mindful of self-sabotage.

But it is easy to type it... if you see me tomorrow kick me hard if I have not done 1 hrs reading? :)

Actually you know what, the witch, my boss, and her boss are all off today - I have some flexi owed - I should use it, shouldn't I? Get a few hours in before Elliot needs picking up.

Ah, see now you've said that the wording looks clear as anythign! I'll look it up on YouTube when I get home :p

Just be prepared that it will either make you cringe or cry :o

Thanks squiz x Somehow I haven't lost my will (yet) so I am determined to change the things I can... and accept the things I can't... We've rented a cottage in Devon for a week (PLEASE be sunny) so hopefully it'll bring the space I need to clear my head and come back with a plan :)

That sounds like a lovely break.

Re work politics, try to rise above it and get on with your own stuff, but I know it's really hard - we have people (mainly one person) like that here and it winds me up so much, especially when other managers know and ignore it because they don't want to face it.

Lovely as it is to be chatting to you - DO IT!!! Imagine how much better you'll feel knowing you've made progress on the reading for the essay! And you'll get more of your holiday to properly relax...
