Yup, or cashback on the full £ 20,000 to use your figures (assuming you start with a nil balance :))

They've done away with the 4% interest on positive balances, but they're still happy for you to have a positive balance.

  • I do not have anything good to say about egg.

I have now tried to apply for the Egg Money card at least 5 times. I complete the application, click on Submit, then get a webpage which says Oops... I have telephoned them twice - each time they just said try again. Well that did not work. Eventually they said something had gone wrong with my first application which prevented any future applications from being successful, so they suggested hiding all my details to prevent me from being able to log in as a customer, and that I start all over again. I did this, but still got the Oops. I reported the problem again and was told that maybe it was because I accessed their website from a search engine and did not go directly to their website. But if you are a new customer how else are you supposed to find the website???? Anyway, I tried again, by accessing their website directly, but again got Oops. I reported the problem once more. They suggested hiding all my details to prevent me from being able to log in as a customer, and that I start all over again. I emailed back to say I did not agree to this suggestion as we had already tried that, and it did not work! I then got another secure message, but when I tried to log in, the system did not recognise me, and I could not read it. They had gone ahead with hiding my profile etc anyway so sending me a secure message was plain stupidity!

This is the point at which I give up. I have given them more than enough chances to give me a card and they have refused to help in any sensible way. They have a problem with their website, and I imagine anyone else applying for a card is having the same problem. They obviously do not want anyone getting this credit card!

Unfortunately I will need to contact them as they now have all my personal details which they have no right to. I am also concerned what making these repeated applications might have done to my credit rating...
