Iphone Sim with O2 Dongle "Trick"

So, I've got an O2 dongle from Littlewoods. Bought an Iphone sim from eBay.
I want to use the two for a bit of light surfing on my Netbook.
How do I top up with the £10 needed to get it going?
Can I top up with the Iphone sim in the dongle and go to the O2 site, or do I need to put the sim in a O2 phone or iphone first to top up?

This will work for only so long, O2 are cracking down on this by looking at the IMEI of the phone you are using, and it won't be an iPhone.0
