  • Frustrating isn't it?

    Licence is the noun
    License the verb

    Donning my flameproof jacket now.

Unless you're an American and 'license' is both noun and verb!

No it's easy, it's when people just don't think or mix it up (or didn't know in the first place). You buy or use a licence, but to use it you are licensing the item/object/software etc. [Unless of course you are an American, but then you can't use the English language properly anyway, colors, favorites, etc... <tongue in cheek for those with no sense of humour> ;) ]

You can own as many TVs as you like; it's what you do with them that determines whether or not you need to pay a licence fee.

OK so lets say you have 3 tv's, if you want to watch tv then you need to pay for a tv licence which will cover every tv in the property. If you never want to watch tv then you will not need a licence. I don't think that the argument of i was just watching repeats or i was watching recordings of previous material would stand up in a court of law if you didn't pay for a tv licence & they decided to prosecute.

    Just my opinion thats all!
You can't be lost if you don't know where you're going.

My point was that you don't need a licence to own a TV; you need one to receive live TV broadcasts (which includes receiving to record them).
