Having the house meant I could not afford a pension, or any holidays. I had no shiny stuff, no outings, no hobbies, no fun.
... and nothing's changed then?
FWIW, the best fun I have ever had cost me nothing.

most of your post seems to want a Utopia society, however if prices were as you say above, you wouldn't need studios, flats, 2 beds or 3 beds as most would be able to buy 4 beds.
Then most wouldn't need to get a larger house.
If it was as you say, do you think there would only be 4 bed houses, mansionscastles etc built?:wall:

If it was cash only then PN's prices would be quite realistic.0

on the other side, those buying a property want to buy it at the cheapest possible price so they dont want prices to increase (whilst they havent bought one that is!!!)
that should answer part of your questionKrusty & Phil Madoff, 1990 - 2007:

The thing is, most people forget how it was, how it could be. That you could buy a house and pay a few quid off and then either have kids/one give up work, or start to enjoy hobbies with your spare cash.
Now all that seems out of the window. Mothers are forced back to work, nobody has any monmey, borrowing ott... world's gone mad.0 -

So you STR'd making £400k+ profit and now want to buy a property for only £40k ish
Good luck:wall:

Good luck
I actually expect to spend £150-165k on a 2-bed small house. Then fully furnish it with everything (I have nothing, no things), so that's another £2k - and probably have to stick a conservatory on and do some other tiny things, say another £10k.
Oh dear ... might have to spend less on the house.
And I'd still need to get a job for the next 20 years to pay the bills.0
