Offering to share 50/50 £2K scrappage deal with anyone looking for a new, small car

Options
Are you looking to buy a new car, but don't have an old one which qualifies for the £2000 scrappage scheme?

I am going to scrap my car (which does qualify) shortly, but I am not interested in buying a brand new car to keep. I would however happily scrap the car via this scheme to buy a brand new, small car (say around the £5K price mark) and then sell it onto someone else, sharing the scrappage incentive i.e. I give the buyer the equivalent of 50% of this off the price when I sell it on. Could provide a really good saving to someone looking for a low price bracket, brand new car!

As I don't want to keep the car, happy to discuss what model would be purchased as long as it's within an affordable price bracket for me.

If anyone is interested in discussing further, please let me know

cheers

Sadly the new car will probably depeciate by over £1k the moment you drive if off the forecourt.

When you come to sell it so the new owner then has a used vehicle with 1 previous owner on the log book, it'll probably depreciate some more.

Anyone interested in a nearly new car would get a better deal on a pre-registered (or possibly even new) vehicle from one of the car supermarkets.

Nice try, but no coconut this time.

.. Also, the £2000 off is funded by £1000 dealer, £1000 government so it should be easy to get the £1000 off the dealer irrespective.

Thus someone taking you up on your offer would only save £1000, splitting that with you means £500 saving each.

I dont think its either worth the risk / hassle from your perspective, or the purchasers

It's actually funded by the manufacturer.

This is above and beyond any other incentives the manufacturer may be offering the dealer ... but of course the dealer only gets the scappage allowance voucher if a vehicle is actually scapped.

Also depends on whether you could trust the OP, a single digit poster, who might have ulterior motives and fancies a new car for himself paid for by someone else.

NO half is funded by the manufacturer and half by the dealers.

Apologies, I am wrong (was thinking of the argument Ford were having about who would cover the VAT) - but reckon dealers will no doubt cut deals therefore agree real benefit will be much lower than the £2000 allowance.
