    Hi All

I have recentl moved into a 6 year old 3 bed semi and would like to get someone in to paint the hall, stairs and landing. It will need two coates as it is currently a dark purple and I want it a cream colour.
I'm in the midlands so was wondering how much I should be paying for this as I don't want to be stung and pay over the odds?????

Lol, it will need more than two coats.:D

Is it just the walls that your having painted?, or is the ceiling, doors/frames, bannisters etc being painted.

When i'm decorating the stairs to save the need for a long ladder , i made a small platform out of blockboard, it's a bit like an upside down step that you would use to get into a caravan.
The bottom of the 'step', has a square of wood, the width of the stairs, so when you turn it upside down it sits neatly on the stairs, and the wood that was on the bottom is now a small platform to rest your ladder on, then move it up one step at a time.
I know this sounds confusing but it's quite simple really

I might get you to make one for me :D Its a nightmare sometimes when I am working on HSL, as some of the steps on the stairs wont support my steps, as they are curved, the ladder is no problem, but sometimes I take my life in my hands to get up there.

    Hi all

I have found a local Decorator that will charge me £130 a day plus materials, he knows the property as he has done one on the same estate and he said that it should only take him a day and a half to do the cellings and walls so £195 to do the job.

He will also get me the paint trade price, yipee!!

To save some mone I am doing the woodwork myself or it could have eaten into another day!

Thanks everyone for your help and postings.........:T
