Petrol in wrong container can be dangerous, diesel in wrong container no problem, maybe the OP should not run out of fuel and then try and blame some one else when it causes him/her problems!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

exactly right, you could store diesel in any kind of container without any real safety worries, the only thing that might worry me would be if it leaked as it would smell for ages but wouldnt be any real fire hazard.

it was the ops fault they didnt get diesel in the first place. why didnt you just fill the container yourself?

Did you want the petrol station to swap a new container from their shop, for the one you already owned, but which had been filled with petrol instead of diesel? You wanted to swap your pre-owned container for one of their new ones because you weren't willing to buy one? Or had you just bought the green one from there?

    Short version -
I did ask to swop a container in the shop filled with diesel and they could keep mine that they had filled with petrol but they said no, I would have to buy a new container which I wasnt willing to do.

If they had swapped it then they would have been stuck with a second hand used container which could not be sold as new.You forgot to tell them you needed diesel so it is your own fault nobody elses.

They should have left you to get on with it then you would have had NO diesel.

Jesus suffering, they try to help and you want to complain.

Ran out of diesel at weekend, went to nearest garage and gave him container

Next time your stupid enough to run out of fuel don't be so lazy and fill the container yourself.

Or are you so stupid you can't work the pump?

That might explain why you ran out.

That is a nasty comment and not appreciated. Please do not call me or anyone stupid. How can you call anyone stupid when you do not even know them.
I have already said thank you for responses and dont think that any more pointless, unhelpful comments such as yours are required.

I'm not sure what you expect having explained your story. You screw up by running out of fuel, then screw up by neglecting to inform them you needed diesel in your green container. They do what they can to help you on your way even though you expected them to just swap a brand new container and you want to report them?

    Some people........
