My definition of VI is someone who has access to the media, who extrapolates a set of figures to mean more than they actually do, whilst ignoring the underlying trend and what is causing that trend, to suit their own ends (in this case to keep them in a job, or keep the value of their own property high), a difference of opinion is absolutely fine.

do you mean like Patrick Collinson or even those guys from Moneyweek that now go on the BBC aka HPC.co.uk? ;)

And how come VI never seems to include STRers aor FTBers

Because the people who don't want prices to rise, rarely ever get access to the media, I think the last time I heard a housing bear in the media was Merryn on that property show about a month ago.

No one was complaing about the media last year with headlines such as "House Prices Fall at Record Levels"

Exactly, so why do the VI's start a story about something they know that they don't know ?

Edit... hang on, I'm getting as confused as Donald Rumsfeld here.:D

Beacuse they are VI's! It's their job!
Is it really that confusing to you?
You seem to be over-playing the bafflement as it, of course, is coming from a different viewpoint from yourself.

No-one KNEW when the crash would definitively start until it was upon us yet it didn't stop many VI's in predicitng it for years beforehand. This is simply the same process.

The one thing we can be certain of is the recovery will happen, and at some point it will get over-heated, and then you can start to moan about all those people who start to predict the next crash!! ;)

Come on Steve, you have to admit, the rampers get far, far more airtime than any bear would ever get, what would you say the ratio was in the mainstream media, it's so obviously geared to ramping that very little fair debate is ever heard.

I'm still trying to work out what VI means......

Apart from that, I agree with everyone...err I think!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Does that mean you are losing the argument :rotfl: sorry debate. BTW media is not just newspapers e.g. HPC.
