Porting back to Original Network

Hi,

I have a 3 contract ending soon, but won't be renewing it directly with them as I shall get a better deal going via E2Save.

I've got 2 PAYG sims (1 Virgin, 1 O2) which I want to use as a mule to keep my current number, but both seem to require a £10 topping up to activate them.

Q is can I just ask Virgin or O2 to port my current number to them and then switch it back to my new 3 contract without having to pay anything ? Do I actually have to top up to enable the porting ?

Cheers E

If you think of the effort and admin that's involved, it's not unfair to give either one of those networks something towards transferring your number in and then out again.

Even if you could do it for nowt, would you really want to?
  • exel1966,
You certainly shouldn't have to top up the Virgin PAYG sim to use it as a mule. I popped one of these in a phone for friend the other day. Turned the phone on and it worked straight off without any top up or registration. The registration part may have to change for you if you're porting a number to Virgin.
...and then the window licker said to me...

I used one of the online Virgin (no credit) SIMs as a mule a few months ago - works fine (and calls to 789 aren't charged as you have no credit for them to charge it to). :rotfl:
