Removing Suncream stains

Thanks Pink,
Just checked out the old thread, will give the vinegar a try but if anyone else has any other ideas give me a shout. 5 T-shirts, 3 pairs of shorts and 2 white cotton Kaftans and a cotton sun hat have been washed and washed and washed. Aarrrgghhh!!!0 -
I used Nivea suncream which gets all over the place. We seem to have hand prints and finger marks on the outside of the car where it has been touched with sun cream hands. Now i can't remove these... any ideas?0

White spirit will get suncream off of car paintwork and won't harm the paint.0

I got it all over the interior of our car - hot soapy water done it for me.No Longer addicted to Boots! - Well not today anyway!! :blushing:

How did the White Spirit Go? I have the same problem with Nivea but White Spirit sounds a bit heavy on the paintwork!0
-
Yep, I thought white spirit sounded a bit heavy but after discussing with my partner, they said it might work... haven't tried it yet though! Probably will but pu it on a discrete area of the car first just to make sure no damage is done to the paintwork. Really have to do something as the sun cream is all over the body of the car... boot, car doors etc. etc. Its a right mess!0

.......does anyone have any good suggestions for getting suncream stains out of white cotton?
My daughter has several new pure white cotton tops (hard cotton.......like shirts, not soft jersey cotton like t-shirts iyswim) that she has worn once each that all have suncream stains around the neck and arms.
They were washed at the time but came out still stained so got thrown back into the washing basket where they've lingered at the bottom ever since.
I pulled them out again the other day and soaked them in washing powder and soda crystals overnight but that did nothing. I tried squirting neat bleach on the stains and washing again but that did nothing too.
The stains are a creamy colour which show up a lot as the tops are all still 'new white' so if I cant get them out, the tops are wasted.
Any ideas?Herman - MP for all!0 -
Could you dye them?
I think that type of cotton would take a dye really wellHow does a brown cow give white milk, when it only eats green grass?0 -
Possibly, but I'm not sure the dye would take as well over the suncream stained areas?
I'd only do that as a last measure though, I'd really prefer to keep them white if at all possible.Herman - MP for all!0
