    Unless the cheque is in your name you wont be able to put it ur account, it all changed a few years ago.

    Then why is it legal for Companies to cash cheques for strangers, how do they get there money back?

    The companies that cash cheques, on the high street are financally regulated, hense they can then cash cheques, but their is a fee for their service.

    Can you not look into the suggestions that others have posted, co-op, abbey national accounts, in reality why pay to have the cheque cashed when if he can get an account not pay?

    Good news, there is a note on the form saying he can give the details of another person with a Bank Account if he does not have one.
