we have sky in my wifes name (Sky+ and 2 multiroom) full package so £60ish a month.. we've been in contract 14 months... but i've had an offer through work that says as existing customer can have Sky HD installed for free with free box just sign up 12months and ttake HD pack.

However for new customers, free HD box and install and half price sky for 12 months...

I rung sky about the wife cancelling and me taking it out and they said no because i'd be grouped under her membership.. is this right??!

also i'm moving shortly, so if she cancels and i order as a new customer inthe new address.... have they got a leg to stand on? but would I be able to use our old sky + box for the multiroom?

.................help!

The mistake you made is telling them what you planned! They are right it is the household that counts as the customer for new subscription purposes. Seriously though, if you pay from the same bank account I guess, in theory, they would know it wasnt a new subscription but in reality if you move and put it in your name it shouldnt be a problem.

The plus box is yours and nothing to stop you selling it to a friend who has just moved and is taking out a new subscription and multi room ;)

I didn't give them any personal details in case they make a note on my wifes account... so I think I'll get the wife to cancel and I'll just set up a new account on my new address.

Though worse case scenario I just go with existing customer option and downgrade my package to save money... we don't watch kids shows really being in my 30's!!

does anyone know if Sky regularly check bank account details to see that I/my wife were existing customers?

Not sure if they do or not, but I'd say given that you're moving home you'll be on safe ground even if your wife to open a new account with the same details at the new address.
