Just had a response from Argos about my complaint - they're sending me a £5 voucher - better than a kick in the teeth I guess, although it means I'm gonna have to spend more money there now!!

    Whynot,

Sorry I haven't got back to you before now, but I wanted to try Bangor as well and couldn't get there until today.

Sorry! No joy. Will keep number crunching on your behalf when I'm in either store.

Many thanks PW you are a real lady.
  • Sorry to put this on here but I have searched high and low, including Stumpys very helpful website on how to get a Camcorder in any of the Argos sales.
My training Camcorder has suddenly gone dead and I need to buy one urgently. No luck this far in my searches.
Can anyone help with any deals on Camcorders i.e Digital.
I am prepared to travel anywhere in the London/East Anglia region.
Feel like kicking myself since I had reserved a Camcorder in the December Argos melee and couldnt make it to Kings Lynn to collect it.
    Any ideas anyone.
    Thanks

TBH the camcorders on the Clearance section of the Argos website didn't seem to be that cheap. If only your camcorder had broken a few days earlier and you could have stood a chance of getting a cheap Canon from Boots (£249.99 less 20% + points).

A quick trawl of Pricerunner or similar seems to yield plenty available at just over the £200. The following one looked a particularly good buy for the price, ex display though:

    Panasonic NVDS65 @ £200

Would suggest you forget Argos, and post to one of the main lists i.e. Shop but Don't Drop asking for someone to find you a cheap one, with a few details of your requirements i.e. DV-IN, 10x Optical Zoom, mini DV format etc.

HTH - Rufus (wondering why he paid over £1k for his camcorder 5 years ago).
  • Hi Rjohnmatt - I've been on the look out for a decent digtal camcorder too in anticipation of our first baby arriving in May and am trying to get my head around the various options available with little knowledge of spec's etc.

I looked at the Panasonic which I was grateful to see mentioned by Rufus in the last post and found a few reviews which weren't particularly great for the type of filming I'll be doing on the link below:

I just got home at 3pm to find an email from argos, saying they'd got some more of the sony monitors in stock.
I followed the link, but there was an error message on the page, when I phoned they said they're out of stock.

my eyes are hurting from all this surfing!
  • It's still there in the clearance section but the price is now £170 ish !

    I meant the 17in one!
  • Picked up a few of these the other day. Seem to be quite a lot available around these parts and not really that much of a bargain but if anyone's after some and struggling to get hold of any let me know before my 16 days is up and I'll pop 'em in the post ! ;)

    Sony MDRQ55 In-Ear Headphones.
