My other half cleared up the weeds in the garden last weekend & it seems he may have disturbed an Ants nest - as ever since then we've been getting ants in our (carpeted) living room.
It's getting pretty annoying, as i can't even put any insect repellant down (inside the house) as i've got Cats, plus i start to breathe funny if i inhale the stuff myself.
They really are starting to get on my nerves now.
Any idea's how else i can get rid of them?

gaah.. how annoying! we had the same problem last year and we tried everything (apart from spray for the same reason as you).
All the different ant traps, we tried paprika as they're not supposed to like that, but they still came back.
In the end my OH went all around the garden with a fine tooth comb and found the nest, several kettles full of boiling water later... the problem was solved, and so far, fingers crossed we have been ant free ever since!0 -
Have you got a steam cleaner? If so give everywhere a good steaming and of course find the source and boil it!!!:rolleyes:0

Has anyone tried Black Peppercorns?0

I use these which seem to work at treat. I'm sure they're ok to put down if you have pets as I'm sure I would have checked this having two cats.
You may want to double check this.

That seems like it'll be pretty effective.
Thanks for that Jilly!0 -
we tried the bait station, it slowed them down but didn't stop them!0

If you disturb them enough then they will move on somewhere else...0

When we had a never ending ant infestation, I used some of the Ant Killer Gel (e.g. RENTOKIL ANT KILLER)
It is a sweet gel that the ants collect and take back to the nest and kills the nest instead of just the workers.
The ants were getting in behind a kitchen unit so we just put a dab on a piece of paper in the cupboard and after a while no more came back.
Hope this helps.supersaver09 wrote: »My other half cleared up the weeds in the garden last weekend & it seems he may have disturbed an Ants nest - as ever since then we've been getting ants in our (carpeted) living room.
