Setting up an office : Mobile Broadband help.

Hi everyone,

I am looking to set up an office at home. I require 5 laptops, each with its own mobile broadband provider, one from each network. My question is any sites that I visit on each laptop, are they able to tell that these 5 laptops are in close proximity to one another? Bearing in mind they all have their own mobile broadband dongle, one Vodafone, one Orange, One 3, one O2 and one T Mobile.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Can who tell that the laptops are near each other?
The location could be tracked by the mobile signal, just like a mobile phone can, but that only indicates that they're in the same wireless cell, not in the same room.
    I have to ask-why 5 laptops, 5 networks?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Basically, I would have 5 staff members which I would need to all join the same specific websites. Each account they sign up to will be in their own name, their own address etc I just dont want to fall foul of the one account per house/computer/isp clause and doing it this way was the only way i could think of, do you think i would be ok with a setup like the one mentioned?

Who has this rule then? I have no idea what websites you are talking about, but for example if I want to set up a Google account more than once, I would just use a different username. The home address is irrelevant-lots of houses are in multiple occupation.
5 mobile broadband accounts is going to cost you a lot, and the chance of getting reliable 3G access across 5 nertworks in the same place is pretty small. Why not just have an ADSL line and network it to 5 users all with different email addresses?

And if it is for businessm, you should get a business option - if you have a problem with a residential service, and you say anything to do with business then they will not help you. As dicussed elsewhere in the forum, if you lose money due to their being no connectivity, you can't make a claim for it.

Also, bear in mind long contracts associated with mobile broadband.

Methinks it's something to do with Gambling - I know someone trying to do the same thing - he went for a proxy server who's IP changed every day or so...
