Solar panels being used for many years now, but cost of production to have own solar powered generator at your own home typically very high but the efficiency low, making them largely ineffective source of energy.
Thanks

We've been toying with the idea of installing these...haven't got round to costing them out or anything yet...but feel very intrigued by the idea and have noticed a growing number of houses who have them installed (mental note to stop looking at house roof's when driving!! ) just wondered if anyone on here has had them installed or can think of any good/bad points about the idea
Hi Taurusgb.....
These are the following steps I followed to install my solar panel and right now its works fine.
1) Pick out the perfect place for the solar panel, either east or west where it will capture more sunlight.
2) Than after figure out your latitude tilt because it is effeects more on the efficiency of the solar panel.
3) Mount the panel 4 feet apart and top of the rafters. If you not then they split it down.
4) Drill holes carefully into the rafters. You do not want them to split. These holes are where your steel bolts will fasten the solar-panel mounts to roof.
5) Secure the mounts with steel bolts. Make sure to seal the area around the bolts in order to keep your thermal envelope air tight.
6) Make sure that the solar panels are off the roof by at least a quarter of a foot and after that you connect your electrical supply and pls talk to the electrician about this.

Also, any idea on timescales for when the original investment would be paid off by the yield of the SPs?0 -
I'm in the same boat, looking around for quotes and deals, very confused. Anyone got a good, one-stop shop in the Newcastle/ North East area? One that's preferably not going to scam me!
Also, any idea on timescales for when the original investment would be paid off by the yield of the SPs?

Solar Panels are a great way to knock a minimum of 30% of your electricity bill. If you can afford them they are a great investment and will pay for themselves in 10 years. If you can't there are a lot of companies that will install them for you for free or a small fee (usually around £500) and you can use them to save you energy just for housing the panels!0

Hi All /M
regarding the below ....Hi
Yes, but you've missed the another profile doing exactly the same at the moment and have actually 'thanked' the post .....
.... must be using some relevance logic within some software, or simply preformatted cut/paste - I'd bet on the former ... 'll point the post out ...

The above 'platanincau1981' is the profile I suspect as being another spammer building up a posting history (automated context software ?).... I can't read the posts at the rate that they're being typed in ...
