thanks did as suggested timed receipt/v5 doc filled in. Insurance didn't matter with this one as it left on a transporter! Much to the neighbours upset as it parked in their garden!! lol0

Sorry but that is garbage.
it is not garbage at all.. it is the law. "Permitting No Insurance" is a criminal offence.
It is an offence which is punished with a penalty that is similar to the one meted out to person who actually drives the car with no insurance.
A licence endorsement of six penalties points is typical to begin with.. not forgetting the fine, and the court costs, etc.
Go and read the case law and you will find that the seller of a vehicle is expected to make reasonable efforts to ensure that the purchaser is adequately insured..
funnily enough we were talking about this earlier..
Argos, the high street retailer, is now selling cheap and cheerful motorbikes in its catalogue... 50cc mopeds..
Argos will not let you ride the bike away until you have shown them that you have valid third party motor insurance........
That's because there is a potential criminal liability on the part of the retailer..0
