Hi fid.
I wondered that too after I posted and hoped dogtzar would reply to confirm it but no....I don't think they liked my common sense reply so are ignoring me:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

I accepted a policy on trust from a company which I believed to have good customer ethics, Bennetts sold a policy that simply provided their business with greater profit opportunity and have provided a dissapointing complaints procedure. 8 days after cancelling money still has not been returned to my debit card.
As a Fantastically Fervent MoneySaving Super fan I am surprised that you are not supportive of making people aware of the pitfalls of taking a policy from Bennetts Motorcycle Insurance and their need to be aware of their business tatics of expoliting customers.
Other Insurance companies may have similar procedures, I guess that in your opinion I have been lucky not to have been taken advantage of before.
I will certainly take care when purchasing insurance in the future and hope that I have helped others to be aware that there are insurance companies that do not always provide the most appropriate policy and will take advantage of trusting clients.0 -
Is common sense having to scan every page of every policy and accompanying document for small print, chase a company that does not provide a renewal invitation as part of a service, have to ask questions to discover clear attempts at exploiting existing customers loyalty.
Yes, why not? No-one is going to hold your hand and read it for you. Customers (including myself) have to take responsibility for looking after themselves. Insurance companies (like every other company out there) are in it for the profit, they aren't going to tell you everything that you should be finding out for yourself.I accepted a policy on trust from a company which I believed to have good customer ethics, Bennetts sold a policy that simply provided their business with greater profit opportunity and have provided a dissapointing complaints procedure. 8 days after cancelling money still has not been returned to my debit card.
If you accept policies on trust and don't check the details you are going to get caught out....like you have found.
I personally would be chasing for the money everyday. They would soon get bored and refund me just to get rid of meAs a Fantastically Fervent MoneySaving Super fan I am surprised that you are not supportive of making people aware of the pitfalls of taking a policy from Bennetts Motorcycle Insurance and their need to be aware of their business tatics of expoliting customers.
I am supportive to a degree. As said before though, people need to take responsibility. I had hubbys Bennetts policy certificate in front of me when I made my first post in reply to you and IMO there was nothing to really make people aware of. The auto renewal paragraph was in plain view on the back of the certificate.
ALL insurance co's we have ever taken a policy out with include auto renewal as standard and its there in black and white for all to see that care to read their paperwork.Other Insurance companies may have similar procedures, I guess that in your opinion I have been lucky not to have been taken advantage of before.
I'd say so!I will certainly take care when purchasing insurance in the future and hope that I have helped others to be aware that there are insurance companies that do not always provide the most appropriate policy and will take advantage of trusting clients.
A customer has to do their own research at renewal time. I don't trust any of our current insurance co's to get us the best deal at renewal so I do it myself.
Believe me I have been on the other side of this coin too. My parents just auto renewed their B&C insurance for years until I found out at the beginning of this year that they wanted over £700. I got my parents a better policy for under £300.
As I said before companies are in it for the profit and if someone is just going to keep paying what is asked of them then who is to blame?
I think on this subject we are going to have to agree to disagree:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
I think we agree. Certain insurance companies will take existing clients for as much as they can get out of them exploiting every opportunity. As your parents found out loyalty costs customers. I have learnt a lesson. I just think it is dissapointing that insurance companies have gone down this route. I have 2 motor policies with Tesco and they currently do not auto renew. Will switch my Bike to them - they had 20 cheaper and better value options. BUT i WILL watch the policy for changes. Its a downward spiral for Bennetts Insurance.0

It does have it's advantages though, I forgot to renew my OH car insurance last year and didn't find out for 6 months when I tried to renew the tax....:eek:0
