I do a huge amount of Right move & Google Earth snooping with the occasional drive by nosey. Only visit things I genuine think I might want to buy.
I'm a solo female not had any problem with agents but few people have questioned why I want the big house just for me. Did invent a "working away hubby" to shut up one old lady :rotfl:Looking for the perfect home and saving to make becoming a MFW easier

Yeah, had that too. As a single female you have no rights and are lower than the lowest.... few people have questioned why I want the big house just for me.
You don't deserve a home luvvie .... wouldn't you like a nice little shared house that you can rent ...? No strains or complex bill paying luv!

I went to view a do-er upper and the man selling said you're not doing the work yourself are you "dear" I made a pointed remark that I couldn't do worse than him seeing as it was in dire need of work :rotfl:Looking for the perfect home and saving to make becoming a MFW easier

when i was looking for a house, my mum noticed that the family home we moved from when i was 5 was on the market ... it was way over budget, and had several owners since we lived there, my mum was really curious to look around and kept badgering me to make an appointment to look at it so as she could see 'what they had done with the place' i refused as i did not want to give false hope yo the vendors when i could not afford the property!!!Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0

You could just say Ms, it would save you a lot of study.;)0 -
This has made really interesting reading, I had thought it was just me.
When I was buying as a single female, even the vendors didn't seem to take me seriously. I had a large(ish) deposit, a mortgage in place and I wanted to buy fast but everyone treated me like a time waster on a jolly day out. It was extremely disconcerting to say the least.
......and dont get me started on tradesmen who all seem to imagine I am a gullible idiot who is just begging to be ripped off.Retail is the only therapy that works0 -
My top stories on being a single female are:......and dont get me started on tradesmen who all seem to imagine I am a gullible idiot who is just begging to be ripped off.
- In 2001 being quoted £3000 for two coats of paint in a hallway/stairs
- Going without any heating/hot water for 6 months in winter because I was quoted £200 to fix the boiler, until some other workman quoted me £30 to do the job
- Fat, sweaty, old bloke old enough to be my grandfather, fixing my back door lock took the opportunity to ask me on a date to a steam rally
- Bald midget with glasses, quoting me for a loft extension, slipped an invitation to a date onto a compliment slip within the written quote document
- Being laughed at/humiliated/ridiculed in my own house for being insistent that a handyman entering the house through the back door should lock it when he came back in (he was working 50' forward of that point, on the 1st floor, with the loud radio on - rear door was accessed via a lane that had potential for randoms to be poking about)
Overall, I rarely got any work done on the house at all because you just give up getting any straight answers, reasonable quotes and basic respect.0
