You could say the same about visitors to stores such as Harrods and John Lewis. I was in the centre last weekend and said, 'lets go to JL and see what furniture we can buy in our new house (to be)...

It could actually come to the point where snooping could become an addiction!

When we sold our house the old owner came to look (she was divorced so went back to her maiden name but I recognised her, it was a bit uncoftable really).

When I phoned the EA's she said told them it was not what she was looking for to which I "p!ssed my pants" and told the EA it used to be her house.

Nosey parker just wanted to see how much work we had done, In is not like we re-bulilt it since she came.

The couple that we bought this house off were only here two years, but before them a couple had lived here for most of their married lives; they only moved less than a mile away, and we have had them round for a full guided tour a couple of times now lol (without being on the market!)

Is house viewing like a day out for some people?

    Always has been.

Nothing new in this bit of "news"

I visit two or three a week. The best fun is farting loudly in their living room and watch their discomfiture as they avoid any obvious reaction at all. Sometimes free coffee as well, and maybe a bun. I am decent when leaving though, I always makes impressed noises and say I will get onto the agent as soon as I get home.

As a single female I found it hard enough to wrestle details out of agents' filing cabinets when I was looking for a house - they never took me seriously. The same with viewings, it was virtually impossible to arrange a viewing for any property. A real struggle it was.

The concept, therefore, of managing to arrange viewings for houses one isn't interested in is alien to me. I think next time I need to register as Mr & Mrs, not Miss. Farquars might take me seriously.

Even as an STR I've been sent packing from an EA's office just 2 years ago. They refused to talk to me about what houses they had, they didn't ask if I'd like to go on their list and they just dismissed me in a haughty manner saying "look on the internet, what we've got is there".

    sort of on topic....

I have been to 4 barbeques over the past 2 weeks and all of them have been at houses on newbuild estates.

Everyone of them has looked the bloody same -

    same laminate flooring
    same ikea furniture
same vases with f*cking twigs or similar in......
    etc

    Boring boring boring

After selling a house and realising what an effort it is to keep it looking nice (and I'm obsessively tidy anyway!) I certainly wouldn't. If it's an 'open day' though, yeah, every man for himself!

Use "Dr" or "Lady" next time. ;) Maybe "Reverend"?

If they really annoy me, when they say "Miss or Mrs?", I say "Lieutenant-Commander" and watch them try to fit it into the little box :rotfl:

Yes, I use a similar way round the problem.
