Car hire with wheel on the left?

Does anyone know if there are car hire's in London (airports) that have the steering wheel on the left side instead of right?

    I very much doubt it.

Cars in the UK are designed to meet to standard for British roads, i.e wheel on the right, white front lights facing left etc...

A friend of mine was asking and I honestly had no idea so thought I would ask here. Her and her boyfriend want to visit UK but he refuses to drive the brittish cars *shakes head* because he's *cough* afraid/nervous of the steering wheel being on the other side lol.

It's far worse driving a left hand drive car on the left hand side of the road, due to visibility issues.

If he's used to an auto box, just hire an auto car.

Does he think the pedals are the other way round as well? That's a common misconception!

I very much doubt you will be able to hire a LHD car in the UK.

Well being he/they are from Scandinavia and has been driving with the wheel on the left. I guess he is just paranoid about hiring a car with something he isn't used to driving which in a way I can understand.

well, as someone that drives an excessive amount of miles in the UK, i've got straight into a car in a foreign country, and had no problems.

Yes my hand went to the left to change gear, but after about 20 minutes, i was used to it, and I was rocking and rolling, and driving no problems...

    +1

Every time I go to Spain (about twice a year), I hire a car and, for the first 10 minutes or so of driving, it's a bit weird and I also go to change gear with my left hand.. but a couple of roundabouts later and it's second nature, as native as driving in the UK.

I'd hate to drive a RHD vehicle in Spain.

I think it IS possible, from specialist companies - ie not at airports

http://www.lhdintheuk.com/index.php for example sell LHD cars - they may be able to point you at a rental outfit.
