Hi,
Guys Ill get straight to the point and hopefully someone will be able to offer us the help we desperately need.
Long story short is I have a methadone prescription and have had for nearly 15 years (I had a troubled past a long long time ago). Now please don't get the wrong idea I have a job and a mortgage and have had for 15 years. We have a wonderful home and family. I have my partner and three children (oldest is ready to leave the nest). I desperately want to be able to offer them the protection they deserve in the event of an accident etc. My/our dilemma is this...... Do I just go for a standard life insurance policy knowing the above? I think not. (if I got hit by a bus or something they would not payout based on the medication, I'm guessing). I have no issues with paying a premium etc (i am not well off either) but I do not know if life insurance is possible (for me).
Is there any ware anyone can suggest I try? Has anyone got an alcoholic or medication prescribed etc family member who has recently acquired life insurance and if so was it an issue?
Please do not judge me and restrain from making obvious remarks like "why not stop taking it" or anything else unhelpful or abusive.
Thanks for taking the time to read this

The only people that can tell you the answer is a prospective insurer. If you are not totally honest, the cover will be void.
"why not stop taking it"
I stopped smoking for a year then applied for insurance. As I was still using nicotine replacement, I was classed the same as a smoker. It wasnt until I had been off that for a year that I got my "non smokers" discount.
Your family need the protection. No matter what, I'd get the cover by declaring everything. If at a later date you feel you can cope without medication, get a new quote.
DONT get quotes online. They'll give you a price, then call or email to "confirm some details" and put the premium up anyway.0
