Unfortunately there are a lot of scam competitions about these days, one of the top ones being you have won a holiday and pay this admin fee to get it. 99.9% of the time you pay your money and never get your holiday.
Due to popular demand This thread has been created so all scams can be posted here, so hopefully no MSE'rs will get caught out and lose any money!!
One word of warning for you all. If you win a competition you should never have to pay for anything to get the prize ie. admin fee etc.....
This thread is only for competition scams. Any other warnings or rip offs should be placed here

I'd give it a miss as they normally do a hard sell at these meetings and try every which way they can to part you from your money or cheque. If at first you don't succeed try, try, try again.

Yep i just had a call from someone saying i had also won a holiday for four but not the new york one and i said i didn't enter any competition and he just dais ' oh it was probably a while ago, a few people have said that'! Anyway he gave me a reference no to quote when i rang them up but thought it sounded like a scam - i asked him what i'd have to pay he said bout £29 towards it, so sensing a scam i thought i'd check on here and it seems i am right lol! I got the Yellow Pages one too.
I normally delete these emails but thought it was real at first too.Sometimes later becomes never. ...0 -
Aye I got that one yesterday.... I can see how people can think they are legit

Mind you, he had my email details so where did they get that from?!
They don't have to have actually got it from anywhere. I get piles of scam emails every week and some of them the 'to' field has something that's close to (but not) my email address so some of them will just send out thousands and thousands of emails hoping that some will hit the mark and people will believe them
